Donate
Please help us help sea turtles in Canadian waters and worldwide by donating to the Canadian Sea Turtle Network. We are grateful for your contributions and are mindful of how much you make possible for us in our work. Thank you.
We are always happy to talk to you about what we are doing and how your money is being used. You can contact our executive director, Kathleen Martin, with your questions at: kmartin@seaturtle.ca. Or, if you’d prefer to chat on the phone, you can reach her toll-free in North America: 1-888-729-4667.
Volunteer
We’re grateful to have a dedicated group of volunteers working together to conserve sea turtles. Volunteers from across Canada and all over the world can help support our research and education initiatives by fundraising. We also have a number of current volunteer opportunities available:
Sea Turtle Centre
The Canadian Sea Turtle Centre is a kiosk on the Halifax waterfront where we educate the public on the sea turtles in Canadian waters. In addition to educating the public about sea turtles, volunteers may also help with educational programs for youth that are operated out of the Centre. The Centre is open seasonally during the summer and autumn months.
Special Events
Throughout the year, we host sea turtle-themed events, such as our Sea Turtle Bubbly Party or our Jellyfish Fashion Show. We have various volunteer positions available for these events, ranging from educators to face painters and more.
Outreach
The CSTN often receives invitations and requests to participate in outreach events at museums, partner organizations, or community events across the Maritimes. We are looking for volunteers who would be interested in participating in these outreach events, teaching the public about sea turtles through either a talk or an information booth.
Beach Patrol
Our Sea Turtle Beach Patrol program runs from October to January each year. Volunteers walk a beach of their choosing in the Maritimes at least once a week looking for stranded cold stunned sea turtles. Online registration for this program is typically open from late September-December, with an orientation for volunteers in the beginning of October.
Interested in joining our volunteer team?
If you’d like to volunteer with the CSTN, please submit your information below and let us know which volunteer program(s) you are interested in. There will be an orientation for the Centre, Outreach, and Events volunteer positions in Halifax on Wednesday, July 2 from 7-8:30pm. The 90-minute orientation will highlight the four species of sea turtles found in Canadian waters, their biology, and the work of the Canadian Sea Turtle Network. The goal is to prepare you for the most common questions and general information you will be providing to the public when volunteering. Additional information will be provided to registered volunteers.
Orientation is required for volunteering at the Sea Turtle Centre and for any Outreach. It is not required for some of our Event positions, like face painting and craft making.
